O'Connor's Polka

I learned this tune from Neil Davie, a mandolin player who used to live in Edinburgh. He learned it from a Boys of the Lough recording, and the Boys of the Lough learned it from accordionist Martin O'Connor. I have seen it elsewhere called The Hayden Fancy.

In Irish music there are many tunes whose name or source has been forgotten. The custom is to name the tune after the musician who you heard it from. Consequently there are many tunes names after Dennis Murphy, Matt Molloy, and Paddy Fahey! Other Irish polkas: Denis Murphy's Polka   Egan's Polka   Peggy Ryan's Polka. Try also these Shetland polkas: Da Boannie Polka & Sister Jean.
