THE PUNCH BOWL INN
This is a great place to go out for a meal in the Lyth Valley, easily accessible from Kendal or Windermere. The food is excellent, we suggest you book in advance to avoid disappointment. So much for our recommendation, here is what they have to say about themselves......
The 17th century Punch Bowl Inn is
owned and run by Steven and Marjorie Doherty. Formally head Chef
to Albert Roux, Steven took the decision to branch out his own
enterprise. Within 12 months of it's opening in 1996, the Punch
Bowl was voted the Lake District Pub of the Year and was ranked
as one of the nations top ten country pubs by 'Which' magazine.
It was also applauded by the judges in the annual 'Caterer and
Hotelkeeper' Catey awards for "a knockout performance from
one of most exciting prospects in Britain". Since then the
Punch Bowl has been featured in most of the influential pub and
restaurant guides, including the 'Michelin.'
Many early features - including the low ceilings and beams - are still to be found at thePunch Bowl.
