SCHOOLS' FOOTBALL - CRISP SHIELD - ROUND ONE
Played at Douglas Eyre Sports ground, Walthamstow. Saturday 18th November 2000
Hackney Under 11's 0, Croydon 4
High-flying Croydon maintained their 100% record with this Crisp Shield success at Douglas Eyre, but plucky Hackney more than matched their Surrey rivals for over half of the game.
Hard-working mid-fielder Cantekin was at the heart of Hackney's early offensive and the bustling Gordon was a constant worry to the visitors' defence. There was scant reward, however, and Hackney's best effort came from Anthony Osei-Roach who struck the bar with a fifteen yard drive.
Croydon stepped up the pace after the interval and soon Hackney's defence came under pressure. The visitors managed to strike four times to complete their win but Hackney will rue the defensive lapses which allowed their opponents such a flattering scoreline.
