KAY TROPHY
Played at Douglas Eyre on Saturday 27th January 2001
Hackney U11 - 2 Islington U11 - 4
Only a herculean effort by the Douglas Eyre groundsman ensured that saturday's game went ahead -
Hackney probably wished he hadn't bothered!
Islington had the edge in the earlystages but Hackney forced their way back and, after hitting a post, Osei-Roach opened the scoring three minutes before the interval. Islington attacked strongly from the restart and equalised in the dying second of the half.
As the pitch started to cut up, both sides showed great committment and no little skill. A well hit cross shot from Gordon brought an excellent save from the Islington goalkeeper and then Hackney inexplicably 'went to sleep' conceeding three goals in the space of three minutes.
A well struck shot from Gordon was the only consolation for the home team.
