Hackney will now represent Inner London in the South-East England Regional Round of the National Adidas competition in the Spring - success there will take them to the National Finals at Old Trafford.
All eight Inner London districts were represented at Douglas Eyre for the County Round and Hackney progressed through the league section with goal-less draws against holders Bermondsey and Wandsworth and a 2-0 win over South London, Shane McIntyre and Anthony Osei-Roach contributing the goals.
There was nothing to choose between Hackney and Islington in an outstanidng semi-final and it took a lightning strike from Nathaniel Gordon to break the deadlock with an extra-time 'Golden Goal'.
Local rivals Tower Hamlets provided the opposition in the Final, Playing a neat passing game, Hamlets held the advantage for a while, but outstanding defensive play by Langsdon and Osei-Poku kept them at bay, and on the break, striker Osei-Roach beat the goalkeeper to a through ball to score the only goal of the match and provide Hackney with their first ever success in this
competition.
