Hackney had slightly the better of the opening exchanges but their forwards could not build on McIntyre's good work in in mid-field.
The visitors opened the scoring from close range in the twentieth minute as a swirling through ball caught Hackney's defence square.
Hamlets then took complete control and goalkeeper Thomas was kept a full stretch for Hackney. But they had to wait until the mast minute to make the game safe when a deep right-wing corner was converted at the far post. Hackney's best effort came from Langsdon who beat two players before seeing his low shot well saved at the near post.
