LESTER FINCH TROPHY
ISLINGTON UNDER 11'S 2, HACKNEY UNDER 11'S 0
Hackney and Islington were well-matched throughout this local derby at Douglas Eyre,
but the home side snatched the decisive goals midway through a second
half in which
Hackney failed to make the most of some good
opportunities.
Karmah Duberry came closest to giving Hackney the lead
just before
the interval when a good run into the box from Simon's pass was
thwarted by a
superb saving tackle from Islington's centre half.
The home team then created the
better openings
after the interval resulting in close range goals. Sampson saved well for Hackney and from the
resulting clearance, a smart move involving Fagan, Marks,
Duberry and Simon was scrambled
away.
Further
chances followed but the ball would not run for Hackney and Islington
left with
maximum points.
