SCHOOLS' FOOTBALL - INTER DISTRICT MATCH
Played at Douglas Eyre Sports Centre on 6th October 2001
HACKNEY under 11' s 1, Thurrock Under 11' s 3.
Hackney's yongsters battled to keep pace with a lively Thurrock side at Douglas Eyre, but the Essex team's greater experience saw them through to a deserved victory.
The visitors set the pace early on with two goals in the first ten minutes , but good work by Duberry and Moore in Hackney's mid-field set up MARCUS SIMON to reduce the arrears before the interval.
Thurrock regained their two-goal advantage with a penalty but Howes-Doody saw a clever chip over the goalkeeper just clear the bar as Hackney staged a late but unsuccessful rally.
