SCHOOLS' FOOTBALL - Kay Trophy
Played at Bexley 26th October 2002
WOOLWICH Under 11's 1, HACKNEY Under 11's 3
Hackney started slowly in heavy conditions at Kidbrooke and conceded the opening goal to a skilful Woolwich outfit after just ten minutes. But the visitors then gave their travelling supporters an early Christmas present with their best display of the season striking three fine goals to take the Kay Trophy points.
Smyth was in outstanding form at right-back as Hackney settled and tenacious mifielders, Fallah and skipper James, began to stretch the Woolwich rearguard with some astute passing.
Leading scorer OKONU OLUGU put Hackney on terms when he rounded off a three man move with a clever flick over the goalkeeper before GREG MOORSE-MacDOUGALL hit an unstoppable twenty yarder to edge Hackney in front.
The visitors then pounded the Woolwich goal for ten minutes without adding to their score but when it was the south Londoners' turn to attack, it needed last-ditch tackles from Parkinson and Downing to keep them at bay.
Hackney never lost their rhythm, however, and a swift passing move let in DAVID FALLAH to score with a rasping shot and put the result beyond doubt.
