Hackney's record of three wins and three defeats, however, was rather disappointing after their outstanding achievements at home this season.
They started the week slowly, going down 3-1 to a lively Walsall side in the first match and by a similar score to Plymouth in the next game.
They then began to show their best form, gaining thre successive wins against strong opposition - 4-2 over Orpington, 3-1 against Bishop Auckland and 1-0 over local rivals, Redbridge.
In the final play-off match, Hackney were beaten 2-0 by a tenacious Gloucester side .
