Our head office and plant is near Oxford in the UK. Established in 1976 by entrepreneurs Derek and Monica Farrow and John Alldred, an Oxford-educated physicist, Protovale was the first company in the world to use pulse induction technology for covermeters and rebar locators this pioneering technology has been much imitated but never bettered.Leading edge technology for professionals

John Alldred is an acknowledged expert in the field, who is a regular speaker at both academic and industry conferences. He continues to work at the leading edge of pulse induction technology. Alldred is responsible for the many Protovale firsts, which include the CM9 CoverMaster, the world's most intelligent cover meter, the new Bore Hole Probe for locating metal behind rebars and the unique Imp Box Locator for locating valve boxes, manhole covers.
