Councillors on Medway Council: Interests to be declared

Declarations of Interest: Non-pecuniary

If any member of the Committee, Cabinet or Council that is meeting has any non-pecuniary interest in any item that is to be discussed during the meeting, whether substantive or non-substantive, that interest is to be declared at this point in the proceedings.

Depending on the circumstances, the member may be required to leave the meeting for the duration of that item's discussion and decision, or might be able to participate in the discussion but not vote, or in the least-interest cases the member can be allowed to participate fully including voting.

This requirement is a provision of the National Code of Local Government Conduct.
