How to start programs in Windows
Click on the start button (bottom left)
move the mouse pointer over Programs
Choose the program you want from the list and double click on it
How to operate different software
software in Windows generally has some similar operations.
There is usually a menu bar at the top of the screen that allows:
File:
starting a new file :loading or opening new files :saving the present file: Printing your file.
EDIT
cutting,copying and pasting parts of your program
.....Help
loading a help file detailing how the particular rogram operates.
How to load in new software from disc or CDrom.
Put the first disc in the drive or the CDrom in the drive.
Click on My computer
click on the CD or the floppy disc picture (as appropriate)
There will be a file shown called install. Double click on this and follow the instructions.
Windows will usually say at the end of any new software installation that it needs to restart.
New software is installed on the computers harddisc and in the computers start menu.
How to stop and close down programs
In the file menu there is usually a menu item which says Quit or Exit
You can also click on the small cross (x) at the top right of a Windows program which will close it down. If you have some work that it has not saved it will usually ask you if you want to save your work first. If you answer no anything you have done in that session using that program will be lost.
