News April 2nd
League season over and it is time for the best of the summer. No, honestly the sun was blazing as we welcomed the gentlemen of Kirkby Stephen to Kendal for an end of season freindly. As our picture shows they are one of the best looking outfits we have played against this season, notwithstanding the presence of Macca.
Next we see the home team arranged casually but tastefully. Note in particular the classic stance adopted by Steve Southworth.
It was a splendid afternoon's hockey, both teams competing with great spirit. The result is of academic interest but for those who like to know these things, Kendal scored twice and Kirkby scored once, I forget the rest of the details apart from a vague recollection that Steve Peruzza was not utilised enough in the second half and I think Ewan lost his temper a little towards the end. Oh yes, and Rob Bradshaw and Mike Graveson had their usual little debate, you know, the one where they forget that they are actually playing on the same side?
Why might my memory be a little hazy? This is explained by the fact that this weekend was the annual invasion (I can think of no more suitable word) of Kendal by the incomparable Springfeilds hockey Club. Always at this time of year and always spectacular. This year they chose not to play any hockey although they did take the training seriously. This picture shows three of the squad carrying out one of their routines:
And then we have more of the squad, also training, this time indoors:
And finally, well, to be honest I can not think of a suitable caption for this one, so lets make it a competition.

Moving swiftly on, next weekend is the Cumbria Cup, four games to be played over two days at St Aidan's School, Carlisle. Kendal squad depart Parkside Road 10.00am Saturday and for those not staying over in Carlisle, depart Parkside Road 9.00am Sunday.
Last bit of news is we can confirm a trip to Heywood HC for a little tournament on 12th and 13th May. Imran has already booked the pitch and the Indian for Saturday night. There are 12 places available for this hockey and social extravaganza.
