The Annual Heywood Weekend once again provided a festival of hockey and refreshment. On Saturday the sun beat down on the mixed ladies and gentlemen of Heywood Hockey Club and Kendal Men's and Kendal Ladies. The heat was too much for some, as our pictures suggest. The game produced ten goals, evenly distributed between the two sides. Incidents were many, varied and exciting- you had to be there! As always refreshments were provided after the match at the Castle Inn.
After a Saturday night exploring the delights of Kendal (guided we think by Rob Bradshaw- top man on such occasions) Heywood reassembled for more hockey on Sunday, this time in the rain, against the attractive and talented ladies and gentlemen of Windermere. This game produced a dozen goals with Heywood having just the majority, thanks in particular to Sticky Vicky who poached 5.
By the time you have read this far, a few pictures of the event might have loaded! They appear without further comment.
Many thanks to Jav for requesting the fixtures in the first place, to Sarah for gathering the Kendal ladies, to Dominic for sorting out the Windermere squad, to Jeff and Chris at The Castle Inn for the refreshment and to all players who took part. Next year it really is the turn of Kendal and Windermere to visit Heywood.
