CAPTAIN'S LOG 2001
by ZEKEL ATHERLEY-BUCKRIDGE

When we first started playing as a team in October 2000, we were not very successful in all our matches. Now we are more familiar with each other we are doing much better. Last December we did so well, that we won the Adidas Predator cup.

It was an amazing experience to be captain and to lift the cup for Hackney. After that match we went on to beat Luton 2-0 and Orpington 4-2.
I think that John Larter, Chas, and Tom Pirnie are excellent coaches because they are strict and keep us going, by encouraging each of us when we need a push. Without them there we would not be as good as we are at the moment. They have truly made us raise to our highest standard.
It looks easy watching football, but really it is not when you are playing at district level because each team we play are as good as the other team.
It is coming up to the end of the season and we have to show the coaches that we can win and play as a district team, our chance to improve and show ourselves will be at the Jersey Festival. Hopefully I will be lifting another cup soon!
