As planned this was a very casual and informal weekend. The tragic events of a week before overshadowed things with those of us arriving on Friday night watching the events a Westminster Abbey on TV.
Camping was in a field behind the pub, with access to the pub for wash & toilet facilities. Excellent food in huge portions was served in the pub, along with copious amounts of good ale ..... thanks Dave :-)
p.s. If you know The White Hart and Dave Trotter, then let him know that the secret of 'The FORKS' is almost safe. . . I know it's cryptic, but he will understand ;-)))
We hope to see you all again at this show. Last year was a first for a Laverda stand at the show, and we will be there again in 1998. The show has proved to be a huge success and is growing year on year.
The organisers are Robbie & Margaret Allan of M & R Promotions who can be contacted on +44 (0)1555-893405.
Started at 1.00pm with a bar and free buffet provided.
Our guest speaker was Keith Davies of Three Cross who informed us of the up-to-date situation at the factory. Keith also came one of the new Laverdas.
An informal camping weekend based at Clennell Hall. This is a 16th Century Grade 2 listed building set in the Cheviot Hills at Alwinton, Nr. Rothbury, Northumberland.
There was rides out to explore this beautiful unspoilt area heading for Seahouses, the Farne Islands, Holy Island, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Keilder Water (Europe's largest man-made reservoir) and the North Pennines. Excellent biking roads thrown in for free ;-)
p.s. there's more than a few pints of good ale downed each night %*)
This was held in Appelscha which is in the province of Friesland (South West of Assen).
A new day for the TT Laverda meeting. The heavens opened on our night, with the weather making no exception of the I.L.O.C. during what was the whettest TT on record ..... YUK :-((
The International Laverda Owners Club's annual track day at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire. 1997 enjoyed a big turnout of over 100 and no serious spills :-)
From all accounts about 65 turned up to a sunny Cadwell that was surrounded by our terrible wet summer of 98.
For 1998 we used the Full Circuit once again - incl The Mountain :-)) - If you haven't experienced this 1:3 hill then it really should be on your DO IT list.
All European bikes are welcome on our trackdays.
Leathers must be either 1 piece or zip together - this is for your own safety. Helmets, gloves, boots and bike are all scrutineered before the event. Bikes must be roadworthy, ie tread on tyres, no leaks from anywhere and all glass taped up. The only exceptions will be for race bikes in that we will allow them to run on slick tyres if dry.
Scutineering starts at 8.30am and finishes sharp at 10.30am for the start of the tracktime which will run till about 4.30pm.
1998 prices were a very reasonable UKp 60.00 for non-ILOC members on any bike.
(There are discounts for ILOC members riding Laverdas, details as per La Vera Vista :-)
Pompone Italia and Maurizio are the hosts for this one in the North East of Italy.
Valle San Liberalle is some 50km North East of Breganze in the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains.
In aid of the Make-A-Wish Foundation organised by the BMF.
In 1997 this went ahead on a fine weekend, in early October at Oulton Park Circuit, Cheshire when about 15,000 attended this fund raiser.
We had 32 bikes on the stand, the biggest Club display, not bad for one of the smallest marques. Laverda's from all eras. Ranging from a 1972 750S all the way through to a pair of '97 750S' and virtually every model in between :-))
A point of note about I.L.O.C. bike displays is that although we all like clean & tidy bikes, concourse is NOT an issue as they're all "Ridden NOT Hidden".
For '96 + '97 the IoM's very own Purple Helmets were performing their "Death Defying Stunts" ;-))
Dave Coates assisted by his lovely wife was performing some truly amazing stunts on the track with his GSXR11. Not only does he break off the number plate while wheelying, but goes on to wreck the tail light on also!! The crowd were suitably impressed by all this and massive stoppies. Not only solo, but 2 up, 3 up and even 4 up!!
For the 99 show contact Alan Cudlipp (Ass. Editor), his details are on the ILOC Committee Page
For 1997 this rally was organised by Paul Marx, held at a small Chateau with 60 beds. The rally cost of 250FF included 2 nights accommodation and all your meals for the weekend. Well attended by a number of the I.L.O.C. :-)
The Show is all about the bikes of the 70's and 80's. With many Club and trade stands, auto jumble, and a motorcycle auction.
Guest of honour for last year was Rocket Ron Haslam (looking far younger than he should;-) One of our bikes, a very nice black Formula 1200 Mirage owned & restored by brummy Nigel Swift got 3rd prize for the 80's Bike of the Show - Well done.
