This Scrutiny Committee is (it is believed) a kind of overall policy-formulating body for the way the various Overview and Scrutiny Committees will operate. It was insisted upon by the Labour and Liberal Democrat groups, and was not part of the original plans for Overview and Scrutiny on Medway Council. It meets regularly, usually on a Tuesday evening commencing at 6.30pm, in the Presentation Suite at the Civic Centre, Strood.

All the Overview and Scrutiny Committees are chaired by members of one of the opposition groups.
