This Scrutiny Committee oversees and scrutinizes the Cabinet's work on regeneration (the former Economic Development Committee's business) and Community (such as community safety) matters, and calls-in to full Council anything it believes has not been handled correctly within the extant policy framework. It meets typically once a month, on either a Wednesday or Thursday in the first week or so of the month, usually (but not always) in the Civic Suite at the Civic Centre, Strood.

All these Overview and Scrutiny Committees are chaired by members of one of the opposition groups; and this one is chaired by a Liberal Democrat member with a Liberal Democrat Vice-Chairman.
